Asian shares outside Japan recovered early losses on Monday, after China's third-quarter gross domestic product (GDP) beat market expectations.
GDP for the world's second-biggest economy grew 6.9 percent percent on-year in the July-September quarter, compared with 7 percent in the previous three months, official data showed on Monday.
Analysts polled by Reuters had forecast China's growth to slow to 6.8 percent from a year earlier. "To be sure, markets are fully anticipating that third-quarter GDP will miss the 7.0 percent growth target," Mizuho Bank's senior economist Vishnu Varathan wrote in a note.
