Rupee gains 17 paise

The Indian rupee gained 17 paise in the early trade on Tuesday. It has opened at 68.26 per dollar versus 68.43 Monday. 


"The fiscally prudent Budget and expectations of further monetary easing by Reserve Bank of India (RBI) helped both currency and bond markets."

Indian ADRs: Tata Motors slips, ICICI Bank, HDFC Bank up

Indian ADRs ended mixed on Monday. In the IT space, Infosys was down 0.07 percent at USD 16.82 and Wipro shed 0.12 percent at USD 11.18.

 

 In the banking space, ICICI Bank added 0.36 percent at USD 5.67 and HDFC Bank gained 0.24 percent at USD 52.82.

 

 In the other sectors, Tata Motors slipped 0.12 percent at USD 22.23 and Dr Reddy's Laboratories rose 0.73 percent at USD 43.98.

China shares stumble, as Asia markets trade mixed

Some Asian markets rebounded Thursday following Wall Street's reversal of sharp intraday losses overnight on the back of higher oil prices, but it wasn't enough to support the Chinese, Australian and Hong Kong markets. China's Shanghai composite was lower by 1.22 percent, while the Shenzhen composite dropped 1.4 percent. 

Concerns were raised over China this week after the People's Bank of China set the yuan mid-point rate notably lower at 6.5273 to the dollar on Tuesday, down 0.17 percent from Monday's fix. Today's mid-point was set at 6.5318.

Asia markets gain; Nikkei up 0.8%, Kospi up 0.2%

Most major markets in Asia extended gains on Tuesday following another positive finish on Wall Street overnight, led by upticks in the energy sector. 

Japan's benchmark Nikkei 225 index was up 0.76 percent, while the broader Topix index added 0.46 percent. The Japanese yen remained strong against the dollar, with the dollar-yen pair remaining around the 112-handle at 112.86 in morning trade. 


Across the Korean Strait, the Kospi was up 0.24 percent. Australia's S&P/ASX 200 was flat, as most sectors traded down. The energy and materials sectors, however, were up, gaining 1.17 and 1.06 percent respectively.

Sensex, Nifty open in red

The Sensex is down 57.93 points or 0.2 percent at 23591.29
 
and the Nifty is down 39.30 points or 0.5 percent at 7152.45.
 
About 211 shares have advanced, 286 shares declined, and 24 shares are unchanged.

Bajaj Auto, Wipro and Reliance are top gainers while BHEL, Hindalco, L&T, Tata Steel and HDFC are losers in the Sensex. Jet Airways is up 3 percent.

Sensex jumps 300 pts

The 30-share BSE Sensex rose 297.08 points or 1.27 percent to 23678.95 

The 50-share NSE Nifty jumped 86.90 points or 1.22 percent to 7195.35. 



The BSE Midcap and Smallcap indices also gained more than 1 percent.

Sebi Closes Case Against 16 Companies

Capital markets regulator Sebi disposed of proceeding against 16 companies related to alleged non-compliance with online investor complaint redressal system SCORES. 

It was alleged that the firms did not obtain SCORES authentication within the mandated timeframe. 

The companies are Rajinder Steels, Rajinder Pipes, Premier Vinyl Flooring, Nova Udyog , Kartar Glass Works, Hindustan Tools & Forgings , Elite Appliance , Electra (India) Limited, Ganges Fertilizers & Chemicals, Ganga Asbestose Cement, JVG Finance, Northland Sugar Complex, Onida Finance Nova Dhatu Udyog, Sakura Seimitsu India and Reinz Talbros.

Asian shares seen consolidating as investor fears ease

   
Asian shares are expected to consolidate gains on Tuesday as the Chinese currency and shares show signs of stability, oil prices rebound, and solid US consumption data suggest last week's sell-off was overdone. 

MSCI's broadest index of Asia-Pacific shares outside Japan was little changed in early trade. Japan's Nikkei slipped 1.0 percent after it climbed 7.2 percent on Monday, its biggest daily gain since 2008 which recovered a large portion of its 11 percent slump last week - also its biggest since 2008.

खराब वैश्विक संकेतों के चलते आज भी भारतीय बाजार की शुरुआत गिरावट के साथ ही हुई है। सेंसेक्स में 150 अंकों से ज्यादा की गिरावट देखी जा रही है और निफ्टी भी 35 अंक नीचे 7260 के ऊपर है। दिग्गज शेयरों में 0.5 फीसदी की गिरावट बनी हुई है और मिड-स्मॉलकैप शेयर हल्की गिरावट के साथ कारोबार कर रहे हैं।

Monkeys threw a wrench into Asian markets in the Lunar New Year's first week of trading, with sell-offs in Japan, Singapore and Down Under on Wednesday. 

In Australia, the S&P/ASX 200 lost 1.69 percent, extended Tuesday's 2.88 percent drop, with the market weighed by the energy, materials and financial sectors, which were down 2.62, 1.78, and 1.19 percent respectively.

US stocks ended a volatile session slightly lower on Tuesday as a late-day rally led by materials and healthcare shares offset another big drop in oil prices. 

Energy was the day's weakest sector, with the energy index falling 2.5 percent as US crude settled 5.9 percent lower.

Asian shares got off to a rocky start on Monday after mixed US jobs data helped sink shares on Wall Street, but trade was thin with many regional markets closed for the Lunar New Year holiday.

 MSCI's broadest index of Asia-Pacific shares outside Japan was down 0.2 percent, with Australian shares slipping 0.3 percent. Japan's Nikkei skidded 1.2 percent in early trade.

Asia stocks follow US in sharp sell-off

Asian stocks traded sharply lower on Wednesday, after Wall Street sold off as much as 2 percent overnight amid a plunge in oil prices. Japan's Nikkei 225 dropped 3.66 percent, while the Topix fell 3.46 percent. 

Across the Korean Strait, the Kospi slumped 1.11 percent in morning trade. Australia's ASX 200 traded down 1.91 percent, with all sectors in the red. 

The energy sector was down 3.30 percent, while financials and materials saw losses of 1.91 and 2.78 percent, respectively.

The market has opened on a flat note

and the Nifty is up 24.90 points or 0.3 percent at 7588.45.

Asian shares started a new month on somewhat firmer footing on Monday, helped by accommodative monetary policies in Japan and Europe, but traders were cautious ahead of China factory and service sector activity surveys. 

A rebound in oil prices last week also helped sentiment, though Brent crude fell about 1 percent in early Asia trade. 

MSCI's broadest index of Asia-Pacific shares outside Japan was up 0.1 percent, after losing 8 percent in January. 

Shares in Australia rose 0.9 percent and South Korea 0.6 percent.

Indian ADRs ended higher on Friday. In the IT space, Infosys was up 0.61 percent at USD 17.91 and Wipro added 0.35 percent at USD 11.72. 

 
In the banking space, ICICI Bank rose 0.11 percent at USD 6.65 and HDFC Bank jumped 2.61 percent at USD 60.33. 

In the other sectors, Tata Motors gained 1 percent at USD 24.98 and Dr Reddy's Laboratories was up 1.65 percent at USD 44.93.

Nifty above 7450

Indian ADRs ended mixed on Wednesday. In the IT space, Infosys shed 0.10 percent at USD 17.42 and Wipro was up 0.02 percent at USD 11.44.

 In the banking space, ICICI Bank was down 0.04 percent at USD 7.02 and HDFC Bank gained 1.14 percent at USD 57.59. 

In the other sectors, Tata Motors slipped 0.49 percent at USD 24.73 and Dr Reddy's Laboratories added 0.53 percent at USD 43.52.
